On Pentecost Sunday 24 May 2026, our parish held the Blessing and Ground breaking Celebration for our new church building.
In his homily for that wekeend, Monsignor Owen said that "it is entirely appropriate that the weekend wherein we join with the Church around the world to celebrate and renew the outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon the disciples should also mark the beginning of the construction of our new church."
At the 1:00 p.m. Mass on that day, we welcomed a large congregation of participants including dignitaries and distinguished guests, alongside our regular parishioners.
Following the Mass, there was a procession to the site of the new church where the ceremonial first dig occured.
At the end of the ceremony, everyone was invited back to the parish park for a BBQ celebration.
Pretty soon we will see activity on the site as water and hydro connections are laid, and the foundation begin to take shape.

We would like to express the deepest gratitude to all our volunteers who made the event possible. You all worked together to put together many moving pieces, in the face of obstacles and challenges that came our way. No words can truly convery how thankful we are for your dedication and presence, for your generosity in time and talent.
We would also like to thank all our parishioners for your constant and continued efforts in praying for this project, as well as for contributing of your treasure – no matter how small or big. Let us always be reminded that God will not be outdone in generosity.
As Monsignor Owen said at the conclusion of his homily, "Let us, in all we say and do, above all as regards our new church building, let our words, actions and desires be born of the will of Christ and guided by the Holy Spirit. And then the peace which is Christ’s will for us, His parting gift in the Holy Spirit, will be upon us."
