With these words from Saint Paul that were printed on cards to mark the occasion of his ordination, Father Vito Marziliano began his priestly ministry. In his 39+ years of priesthood (he had hoped to mark his 40th Ordination Anniversary with a pilgrimage to the Holy Land in October of 2022), we have witnessed how he strived to fulfill them as he served the people of God to the very best of his ability.

We are saddened at his passing, and while we know healing from this pain is taking place we are also aware that it will take some time.

All of us know how much he touched the lives of countless people not just across the Archdiocese of Toronto, but also in different parts of the world.

We, his parishioners and friends, continue to express our profound wishes of condolences to his family.
We assure you of our prayers, which we hope may be a sign of God's peace for you.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing Father Vito with us all.

With Mary, our mother, we pray for Father Vito's soul, and we rely on the promise of salvation that Her Risen Son opens for us. We come to Her intercession to help us heal on the journey of grief as we continue to feel Father Vito's absence around us.

And yet, we know that his memory lives on in us, in our thoughts, in our words, in our actions, and in our prayers. We also have hope that Our Lord welcomes Father Vito to the Eternal Banquet in Heaven, and that from his place there he prays for us.

"Blessed are you who mourn now, for you will be consoled."

Eternal rest grant unto Father Vito, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon him.
May his soul,
and the souls of all the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God,
rest in peace.
